 Allen M. Lawrence, CIC, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Allen Lawrence & Associates, Inc., a major California insurance brokerage firm has long been combining his insurance expertise with public service.
In 1982 the Governor appointed him to the California Health Facilities Commission. He served as Vice Chair from 1983 to 1985 and as Chair of the Public Liaison Committee. In 1992 the Insurance Commissioner recognized Allen for distinguished service on the Commissioner’s Consumer Complaints Unfair Practices Task Force.
January 2000, the Governor appointed Allen to serve on the California TransportationCommission. In 2001, he was elected to serve as Chairman of the California Transportation Commission. In March 2002, the Governor reappointed him as a member of the California Transportation Commission where he served for four more years.
Today, Allen serves as Chairman Emeritus of the Board of Val*Pac, the San Fernando Valley Business Political Action Committee. Previously, he served as their Chairman from 1992 to 2007.

Since 2003, Allen has served on the Board of Trustees of California Truckers’ Safety Association. He also serves as a National Commissioner and a Member of the National Executive Committee of the Anti-Defamation League, on the California Department of Insurance Agents and Brokers Advisory Committee and on the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Allen is a member of both The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers and The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors. Additionally, Allen is also a member of The California Trucking Association, Southern California Contractors Association and Engineering Contractors Association. Most recently, in June 2007, Allen was reappointed to the California Department of Insurance Agents and Brokers Advisory Committee by Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner. This is the third California Insurance Commissioner that Allen has had the pleasure to serve.
Other endeavors in Allen’s past include having served on the Board of Trustees of the Sherman Oaks Hospital from 1984 to 1988, and between 1996 and 2000 he served as the Los Angeles Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
